Job Description

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Carpenter / Foreman to oversee and lead residential construction projects from start to finish. This hands-on leadership role requires advanced carpentry skills, team management abilities, and a strong understanding of residential building practices. The successful candidate will ensure that jobs are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

    Wage & Compensation

    • Hourly Wage: $38.00 – $48.00 per hour (based on experience and certification level)
    • Overtime Pay: As per BC Employment Standards
    • Performance Reviews: Annual or bi-annual wage review

    Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and work alongside a crew of carpenters and labourers on residential job sites
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications accurately
  • Perform and oversee all aspects of residential construction carpentry, including:
    • Framing (floors, walls, roofs)
    • Siding installation (vinyl, wood, Hardie, etc.)
    • Concrete forming for foundations, slabs, and structural elements
  • Coordinate site logistics and daily work schedules with supervisors
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and company policies on-site
  • Inspect work to ensure quality control and compliance with building codes
  • Provide mentorship and hands-on training to junior crew members
  • Monitor material usage and assist with ordering supplies when needed
  • Keep accurate daily reports and communicate progress to site supervisor or project manager
  • Troubleshoot problems and provide practical construction solutions in real-time
  • Requirements

  • Minimum 5–7 years of hands-on carpentry experience in residential construction
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role
  • Proficient in framing, forming, siding, and finishing carpentry
  • Strong understanding of the BC Building Code
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Physically fit and capable of working in all weather conditions
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Own basic hand tools and PPE
  • Preferred Certifications

    • Red Seal Carpenter Certification (Preferred but not mandatory)
    • Fall Protection Certification (Required)
    • WHMIS Certification (Required)
    • First Aid – Level 1 or higher (Preferred)
    • Skid steer, telehandler, or aerial lift ticket (Asset)
